How Eating Mostly Fruit Transformed My Health
Introduction
I’ve written lists of the health problems I struggled with in my body, and it’s wild to think that many of them are now just memories. They used to take over my life completely.
I began my fruit healing journey over five years ago, trying to heal a persistent pain in my left side that I thought was related to my spleen or stomach. Doctors would dismiss it during checkups, telling me I was healthy if a little overweight.
Frustrated by conventional medicine not addressing my concerns, I started researching ways to detox and heal my body naturally.
The Start of My Detox Journey
During my research, I discovered Dr. Robert Morse N.D. and Dr. Bernard Jensen, who promote iridology and healing the body through the intestines. Their approach emphasizes the body’s ability to regenerate and repair itself with a high-fruit diet and supportive herbs for liver and kidney health.
I was so excited that I jumped in immediately—but I was still in school full-time, and the detox symptoms hit hard.
Five days into my fruit-only fast, I experienced massive mucus release from my eyes, ears, nose, throat, and even my scalp—clear liquid dripping from everywhere. I was a complete watering pot of mucus.
I would have continued if not for the risk of failing all my classes. The strange thing? Despite the intensity, I felt amazing and unafraid. I had read others’ experiences with fruit fasting, so I knew I would try again later.
That was over five years ago, and my journey has only grown from there.
My Life Now
Today, 70–90% of my diet is fruit, depending on the day. I still eat out with friends and cook dinners for my husband—but mostly, I eat fruit.
Fruit has changed my life. Short, consistent fruit fasts have healed me in ways I never imagined. Here’s what it’s helped with:
Head and Neck Improvements
-
Brain fog: I used to feel like I was dreaming through life, walking through stores in a daze. Now, I’m present and connected to my body.
-
Lightheadedness: Squatting or standing quickly would make me almost faint. Now, I feel stable and balanced.
-
Hearing issues: My hearing used to make social interactions stressful. Detoxing cleared mucus and pressure behind my ears, significantly improving my hearing.
-
Dry skin: Flakiness around my eyebrows and nose is gone; my skin is more resilient.
-
Eye sensitivity to light: I could barely look past hip level in sunlight without sunglasses. Now, I enjoy bright sun and vivid colors, even the deep blue sky.
-
Broader color perception: Sunsets, foliage, and simple colors appear richer and more vibrant.
-
Hormonal acne: Chin breakouts used to plague me before periods. Now, my skin is mostly clear, with occasional minor breakouts.
-
Clearer voice: Less mucus makes speaking and singing easier and clearer.
Upper Body Improvements
-
Left rib pain: A constant, sharp pain that haunted me in my early 20s is gone, except after occasional overeating of junk food.
-
Bloating: Intense bloating from wheat is significantly reduced.
-
Lung restriction: Fruit fasting, especially grapes, helped clear mucus from my lungs, reducing sharp pains and shallow breathing.
Lower Body Improvements
-
Left knee injury: A lingering softball-sized bruise and muscle deformation healed with consistent fruit fasting.
-
Sensitivity in lower back, bum, and calves: Fascia loosened up, allowing me to enjoy massages pain-free.
-
Ankle pain when jumping: Sharp, shooting pains are completely gone; I can jump and be active without fear.
Overall Wellbeing and Emotional Health
-
Road rage: I used to get angry quickly behind the wheel. Now, I feel calmer and more at peace.
-
PMS symptoms: Hormonal mood swings are much less intense.
-
Weight management: I’ve lost 20 lbs and continue to enjoy my journey toward my ideal weight.
-
Inflammation: Fruit helps keep my body cooler and less inflamed, especially in hot weather.
-
Tolerance to junk food: Processed foods now taste artificial and come with unpleasant consequences.
-
Happiness and positivity: Healing my body has improved my outlook, making me more hopeful and joyful.
