👋 Introduction: My Dry Brushing Journey
From my years of dry brushing, I’ve learned a few things that truly changed my skin and how my body feels.
I’m no expert—but this is a girl-to-girl chat about what I’ve discovered. My hope is that you’ll pick up some tips, try them out, and maybe even teach me a thing or two one day!
💧 What Is Dry Brushing (and Why You’ll Love It)
Dry brushing is the simple act of using a dry brush to gently sweep across your bare skin, usually before bathing.
Benefits include:
-
Promotes lymphatic movement and drainage
-
Boosts blood circulation
-
Removes dead skin cells for a healthy glow
-
Helps tighten and tone skin
-
Supports fascia release
-
Can leave you feeling energized or deeply relaxed, depending on your rhythm
♻️ What’s the Lymphatic System, Anyway?
Your lymph is one of the body’s two main fluids (alongside blood). Think of it like your body’s garbage and drainage system—collecting waste from your cells and filtering it through lymph nodes, which act like mini septic tanks.
Once the waste is processed, it exits through:
-
Sweat
-
Urine
-
Feces
When your lymph flows freely, your body naturally feels lighter and more balanced—and that’s where dry brushing comes in.
🧽 🧴 Tools You’ll Need for Dry Brushing
You don’t need much—just a good brush made of natural fibers.
Popular types include:
-
Ionic boar bristle brush (my personal favorite)
-
Eco dry brush (found easily on amazon or even Walmart)
-
Coconut fiber brush
💛 Affiliate note: I use Ionic Copper boar bristle dry brush and love how sturdy yet gentle it is on my skin.
Optional add-on:
-
Essential oils — Add 1–2 drops of high-quality oil directly onto your palm, then scrape the brush across it before brushing.
-
Always patch test first to avoid irritation.
- Its important to use high quality essential oils on your skin. I personally trust Mountain Rose Herbs Essential oils since they are pure and high quality.

🌞 How to Dry Brush Step by Step
I love dry brushing every morning to wake up my skin—or sometimes at night for a calming ritual before bed.
You can do this standing or sitting on a carpeted floor near your bed. Wear nothing (ideally) or light, loose clothing that gives you full access to your skin.
1️⃣ Start From the Feet
-
Brush the soles of your feet with medium pressure, from toes to heel.
-
Move upward from ankles → knees → hips, using short or long oval strokes.
-
Circle over each knee joint to keep lymph moving.
2️⃣ Move Up the Belly & Hips
-
Focus on the hip crease and lower belly, where many lymph nodes sit.
-
Brush the belly in clockwise circles (toward the left side).
-
Continue upward along your sides and underarms.
3️⃣ Arms and Chest
-
Start at your fingertips, brushing toward the shoulders.
-
Do your left arm first, then your right.
-
Gently brush the chest around the areola and up your neck.
-
These areas are sensitive, so use light pressure.
-
4️⃣ Back and Scalp (Optional)
-
Brush down your back as far as you can reach.
-
For an extra boost, use a wooden comb to brush through your scalp—this stimulates circulation to your head and feels amazing!
✨ After Dry Brushing
Your skin should feel tingly, fresh, and relaxed. Follow up with:
-
A warm shower to rinse off dead skin cells
-
A few minutes of deep breathing
-
A natural body oil or moisturizer to lock in hydration

🌿 My Personal Takeaway
Dry brushing has become one of my favorite holistic self-care practices. It takes only a few minutes, yet makes me feel refreshed, grounded, and connected to my body.
If you’ve never tried it, start slow—maybe just twice a week—and see how your skin and mood respond. You might just fall in love with it like I did.
With all my love,
